Rand Abdul Jabbar: LOOP

Tuesday 14 March, 2017 03:00PM - Friday 31 March, 2017 09:00PM

Design Days Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

LOOP draws from the logic of tensile structures to explore material juxtapositions, coupling a rigidly articulated frame with the ephemerality and fluidity of fabric to create form. The structural interplay with motion produces a playful seating object that invites interaction and engages users of all ages.

Rand Abdul Jabbar is an architect, designer and co-founder of the Center for Architectural Discourse. Her process driven practice makes enquiries into her surroundings, responding to forces of the city.Material investigations and experimentations are often infused with cultural resonances as she borrows from and transforms the ephemera of place, history and heritage. Past projects include FORMA (2015-2016), Foresta Sommersa (2016), and Excavations (2016). Abdul Jabbar has been selected as a fellow of the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship (2016-2017). She received a Master of Architecture from Columbia University in (2014).
