1971 is a multi-functional design space dedicated to the display and discussion of all forms of contemporary design ranging from graphic, furniture to interior, interactive design and new technologies. With a variety of curated exhibitions and public programmes, 1971-Design Space aims to become a regional and international design hub in the U.A.E. working in close proximity with local designers, architects, schools and universities. 1971-Design Space also serves as an informal meeting point and includes a fully serviced cafe for the enjoyment of the public..

As blue as the abyssal depths
Acids on copper water tank installation and ropes
Dated from 1984, this water tank stands tall in the surrounding desolate landscape of Al Faya, was once a majestic signifier of survival, settlement and security of the area. Like many structures of early modernisation, the tank aged through the years forming a vibrant coat of rustic tones that occurs when iron is exposed to air and moisture.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition In Perfect Reckoning, this ceramic tile-carving workshop invites participants to explore the transition from a flat surface to three-dimensional relief. The workshop focuses on the tactile art of sgraffito and deep-relief carving
